Creating a habitat for bees

Published on: 08.09.2020

The bee is one of the most important organisms in our ecosystem. Its extinction would have tremendous consequences for the Earth. We as a community can come together to prevent this from happening and we have already taken steps towards this cause.

In order to preserve the diversity of species, we supported beekeeper Florian Faißt – a neighbour to our production site in Lingenau – in spring 2020 with the purchase of eight beehives with around 50,000 bees each. To make sure that his bees find enough flowers, we have also created a flower meadow around the building. By doing this we want to show that with just a few small steps a beautiful and valuable habitat for bees can be created.

Did you know?

  • The honeybee is considered the third most important creature to humans.
  • Bees secure the population of around 80,000 plant species.
  • For each jar of honey, bees fly to around 3 million flowers.
  • A bee flies about 8,000 kilometres in its life.

Our tip:

You can support bees by mowing your lawn less, letting the corners of your garden grow wild, planting native species, and not using pesticides.
